Live Sketching at Jamie And John's Wedding in Boston, Massachusetts

Jamie and John's wedding at the Harvard Club in Boston, Massachusetts was a fun event to sketch live at. 

The Harvard Club is a gorgeous venue. The architecture and the wooden detailing on the staircase and the ballroom is exquisite . 

Live sketching guest portraits at weddings is becoming increasingly popular . People love to see themselves sketched. Every artist has their own style. Sometimes when I sketch live with other artist friends at events , that's the first thing that people notice. At this wedding, I sketched with my friend , Sam. 

From the moment we set up at the table, and people realized we were going to sketch the guests, our sign up list was full within minutes. 

Jamie took the time to come over and say hello to us, which , if you are a bride - you know , you have a lot going on ! She and John make a beautiful couple ! 

I flew through the sketches . We worked for 4 hours and we were uber busy sketching away to make sure we got through the list !

While I usually have my trusted watercolors with me , I've experimented working only with my markers. I like working with markers, I really do enjoy them a lot. But I think I will make sure to carry my watercolors , since its my favorite medium . 

Sketching watercolor guest portraits gives the sketch a very airy feel and I just need to go with what makes me feel most comfortable . For my style of illustrations ,I feel watercolors really brings out the best in my work.
